Psalm 75:7: “But it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another.”
There was once a tractor, after a long hard week of plowing the fields, rested on a Saturday and watched NASCAR. The races were thrilling. In the stands, were fans of this or that driver who celebrated or cringed based on the position of their favorites. Regardless they were all noticed, and each had their own fan base or hate club. They were seen and known. The tractor was filled with envy and desired to be among the famous race cars. When the next weekend arrived, the tractor was there at the starting line. The tractor had been training all week and felt ready to compete. A fresh coat of paint, a few logos and a tune up, though, were not enough to help tractor even finish the race.
There was once a race car that was among the best ever designed, maintained and driven. Fans around the world cheered the appearance of that car. Many had photos of him on their walls and he had a large fan base that wrote letters. But the race car felt sad that he spent his days racing around in circles and did not feel that he had real purpose. He felt like life had to have more purpose than just going around in circles. He longed to have a job that cared for people. One day he did not show up at the racetrack but instead showed up in the fields and tried his hand at plowing. Even with all his power, the fields simply did not get plowed.
My friends, God is the judge. He has executed His judgement on your purpose. He will make one famous and another productive. Our role is to live our lives in His purpose. There will come a time when the Saints, the blood bought believers will sit before the judgement seat of Christ. At that time, He will look at how you lived your life. Were you a tractor who strove for the roaring crowds, fame and fortune? Were you a race car that gave up your skill set to live a humble life? Both would be failures. Both will be judged as unfaithful to the judgement of the Lord God.
You likely have an idea of it already. But take time to sit with God and ask Him to reveal His will for your life. If need be, fast and pray. Sit in solitude and ask the Judge what He is looking to accomplish with your life. Humble yourself before the King. Resolve that if He has designed you to be a humble tractor, be the best tractor you can be. If you are called to drive fast around a track, do it with all your might. Live in your calling!
