Ecclesiastes 12:14: “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
One of the things that I have noticed is that most people want others and other tribes to be judged harshly and themselves and their tribe to be judges gently. Is that not the very definition of injustice? Justice requires that every person be judged on the same standard. Wait, that is human justice! God takes into account many things that we can simply not consider. He knows the real motives and the truth about why we do what we do. Someone who gives generously to the poor in order to get the applause of man is judged as benevolent by man. He gets community awards and his/her name in the paper as a local celebrity. At their funeral people will remember them as a good person, definitely going to Heaven, a saint. But what if the motive of the giver was to cover over guilt and shame from being an abuser and disloyal to their spouse? What if they went to church weekly but really never loved Jesus? God knows the heart and will judge this person harshly.
What about the person who gives their last penny to help the poor, walks with them and gives them not only material things but helps them discover purpose. But the people they were helping calls them out consistently on social media and bad mouths this person. This person does not retaliate but simply keeps loving the hurting, wounded people that most people treated as outcasts. When this person dies some will call them evil and declare them destined for Hell. He was judgmental and he caused so much pain, he called himself a Christian. God will punish this fool. But God knows the heart. He knows this person felt deep hurt with every sword thrust from these folks. While he suffered in silence, God will rise when he arrives in Heaven and welcomes him into the Kingdom of God.
How wonder it is that we have a God that is a judge that knows the truth and can judge by His standard. That standard is not quite the same for every person. Some are given more, so more is expected. Some are given less and less is expected. But all are expected to give it all to the King, to set aside personal glory and worship the King of Kings. Our God knows the secrets or our hearts. That should create a fear of the Lord in you. Search your heart, examine your motives and give it all to God. Repent when your motives are less than honorable. Make things right with God while you still can. Time is short, my friend. The days are evil we must move quickly to honor Him while there is still daylight.
