Jana was well known around town. You could see her pushing a shopping cart filled with her life belongings including a great deal of equipment to care for the twins that she was sure that she was carrying. From time-to-time, things would happen, and all of those belongings would vanish, and Jana would start over with a new cart and ultimately new baby equipment.
For nearly a decade she has wandered the streets. Those who took the time to visit with her discovered that she was respectful, polite, and freely talked about her love for Jesus. Ultimately, the subject of her pregnancy would come up, and she would tell the story of a one-night stand. She knew better, but she still expected to see her par amour swing by on his dirt bike and bring her to the home he had finally found for her. Those that had not known that she had been in this condition for several years, often purchased baby equipment for her and a meal. Jana is always very thankful.
During one conversation, Jana excitedly said that the doctors discovered that what she thought was twins was actually triplets. At one point, the city that she had been wandering around in for nearly a decade, realized she was not really from around here, so they put her on a bus to another city. Someone in that city heard that she was from our town and sent her back.
Jana is captive to mental health issues and a system that cannot help her because she is not really a danger to herself or others. Jana does not need a handout to care for her babies, she needs to be set free. She needs mental health help more than a handout.
